Executive Summary
Unforeseen events are natural during a business process. In cases of unpredictability, a business analyst must intervene and provide an optimised workflow that can adapt to these changes.Â
Flexisource IT showed its adaptability and quick absorption of information during its service with this particular client. Said client had hired a team without a business analyst at the beginning. However, recognising the need for one, the client requested a business analyst.Â
Our solution was to introduce a short course to their chosen team on business analyst duties. The idea was to compile all information on business analyst short courses into one. The result proved effective and the client received a seamless transition of QA to BA that helped their entire audio intelligence team in the refinement of documents regarding functional requirements.
About the Client
The client is a prominent Australian company with specialisation in broadcast radio, television, and digital media. They are the largest radio broadcasting companies in Australia with over 95% of the population in their reach.
The client chose to partner up with Flexisource IT to create an AI-generated text-to-speech audio to elevate the quality of entertainment services.
Problem Statement
Flexisource IT was hired by the client to improve their existing application. They required developers, quality assurance analysts, and specifically–a business analyst. Because of the current growth of the business they had limited resources to divide the labor. That’s where a remote business analyst came in handy along with their software engineering team of developers and QAs.Â
They proposed creating a floor opportunity for a QA to do the BA responsibility regarding their audio intelligence product. The client specifically reached out to our QA whom they believed had the potential to work both the QA and BA roles.
Flexisource IT’s Solution
Flexisource IT agreed with the solution. However, the transition from handling only a QA role to adding a BA role required preparation.
Flexisource IT prepared our QA with the necessary resources by training her regarding the job and responsibilities of a business analyst. Our BA proceeded with the knowledge transfer session with the QA which only took 30 minutes of training. In addition, our BA provided her with a sample template for BA work.
Roadblocks and Issues During Business Analyst Transition
Fortunately, no roadblocks were encountered by the client during implementation. All parties involved provided the necessary support to continuously improve the program. The QA who took on the responsibility of BA also received good feedback from the client’s technical solution delivery manager.
However, from the QA’s perspective, she believed the doubt she had on the quality of her own work was a blocker. To ensure quality she asked her own trainer to review the work and receive proper feedback. The only minor issue she faced was understanding the new terminologies within business analysis.Â
Business Analyst Crash Course Results
The QA and business analyst job is currently underway. Transitioning with a clear user story and the crash course provided by Flexisource IT trained the QA to their abilities and ensured quality deliveries successfully.Â
The entire experience has provided a future reference document that can be enhanced for future use for Flexisource IT. The seamless transition from QA to BA is now in the works for future installments. Meanwhile, the client was satisfied with the refinement and documentation provided by the new BA with quicker turnaround time and cost-savings as a result.
Upon further reflection, Flexisource IT does recommend more services to improve workflow by hiring UX/UI, more developers, and a scrum master.
