Flexisource IT gives importance to employee training and development as part of its core values. In line with this commitment, the company recently hosted an insightful session on how Scrum is specifically targeted to its non-technical employees.Â
The scrum training was led by Kane Arvin Ching, an experienced Scrum Master with nearly two decades of expertise. He offered a deep dive into Scrum’s core principles and how businesses can leverage them beyond IT projects.

Kane began the session by introducing the fundamentals of the Scrum Framework. He emphasised how Scrum fosters a culture of collaboration and iterative progress, which is essential for managing complex work across departments.
Kane outlined the key Scrum roles:
- Product Owner. The visionary who defines and prioritises project goals.
- Scrum Master. The facilitator who ensures seamless process flow.
- Development Team. Cross-functional members who work together to deliver tangible results within defined timeframes.
In addition, he also highlighted the significant Scrum Training that keep teams on track:
- Sprint Planning. Setting clear goals and deliverables for each sprint.
- Sprint Review and Retrospective.Daily Standups. 15-minute check-ins that maintain team alignment.

The Power of Scrum Beyond IT
After discussing the fundamentals, Kane also presented the application of Scrum in non-IT sectors, particularly HR, Finance, Admin, and Marketing. For example, Kane shared a case study of rolling out an employee benefits program using Scrum. The HR department acted as the Product Owner. Likewise, the HR Lead took on the Scrum Master role. He or she will ensure that team members work efficiently to implement a well-structured benefits program in a timely manner.
During this portion, participants also asked insightful questions about how to apply Scrum to their own businesses. Several attendees were particularly interested in how Scrum can be tailored to non-technical departments. This prompt Kane into providing real-world examples of Scrum’s adaptability.
