Client: A Brisbane based Australian Cloud IT company.


The core of the project is delivering a modern Android application, which will be deployed on payment systems. The physical devices are new to the Australian market and will be licensed by a Big 4 Australian bank who will shortly provide these tablets to their customers as point-of-sale systems. This bank maintains their own app store and allow a small handful of organizations to provide apps for use on their devices. This position will be working in a team who are building one of these apps. This application will replace legacy software with very similar functionality. This means that as a team, we have a production, working example of what needs to be achieved including all legacy code, APIs and databases.


  • Deep knowledge of the Android ecosystem.
  • Experience in Kotlin is a MUST.
  • Experience in Jetpack Compose is an advantage (not required).
  • Experience in Java. This is to be able to reference the previous app.
  • With background in Android Architecture Components, with a passion and eye for implementing user interfaces including layouts, transitions, animations, analytics and business logic.
  • Experience with Clean Architecture, TDD and MVVM. Dagger/Hilt is preferred.
  • Ability to translate visual design and business logic requirements into a clean, testable, modular, extensible and scalable representation in code.
  • Design and integration with backend services, preferably NoSQL.
  • Design, implementation and maintenance of user behavior analytics.
  • Android best practices, as well as general software engineering principles and patterns.
  • Production monitoring and analysis.
  • Design, implementation and operational management of feature toggles and A/B tests.
  • Implementation and maintenance of UI tests.
